Popular Science Lectures

To arouse the interest of secondary school students in Chemistry, a series of popular science lectures are given by our faculty members in various occasions.

Lecture Series on Modern Chemistry 2004
As part of our continuing efforts to promote the interest of young people in chemistry and chemical education in secondary schools, our Department has organised a lecture series on modern chemistry during the period of January to April, 2004 for senior secondary (S.5 to S.7) students. This programme may be considered as a supplement to the Popular Science Talks offered by the Faculty of Science of our University. The present programme consists of ten lectures given in five sessions, with a view to introducing to students selected topics in frontier chemistry as well as those related to our daily lives. A short tour of our Department is included after the lectures. More than 1,000 students and teachers from 39 secondary schools have participated in this event.
